Coffee and cheese and roots

(This is saved from a few days ago—sorry for the delay! I'll play catch up on the last couple days very soon!)

I don't believe I've had so much coffee each day as I have in Switzerland. And it's so tasty... It seems as though most people have espresso machines and they'll quickly "take a coffee" several time a day. Meghan and I both have had a couple in the morning, maybe one in the afternoon and one after supper. Mind you—these are just small espressos, so the caffeine is not so powerful as our cups of coffee. Hence the taking a coffee after supper! It makes me want to get a machine at home...

Yesterday we left St Imier and stopped in Sonvilier on our way out. This is the town my grandfather grew up in and left to head to the states. I got to see his house and the restaurant nearby that was run by his mother. We went in to take a coffee and I made several photos (as the say here) at which the owner eyed me suspiciously. Crazy tourist making photos of a tiny mom and pop restaurant!

Now we are in Pully ("Poo-yee"), Switzerland with Meghan's friends Stephanie and Stefan and their cute baby Maeva. Yesterday we had an incredible lunch on a terrace high up in the mountains amidst jingling cows and stunning views of the alps. I had this chevre salad, it still makes my mouth water to look at this:

And lookie here... The view from our walk, looking out over a lake and France beyond it:

Today we're headed somewhere to do something! We're in the dark right now because Stephanie's brother Sebastian has a surprise day planned for us... So we'll see what happens. Tonight we'll have some traditional Swiss fondue! My favesies.
